About this role
Ascension's Exercise Physiologist role in Indianapolis combines clinical assessment with patient education and requires comfort with significant travel. You'll conduct diagnostic testing—stress tests with EKG, body composition analysis, muscular fitness and movement assessments—then design and teach individualized exercise therapy plans based on those results and each patient's medical status. The work involves ongoing monitoring, adjusting prescriptions as needed, and recognizing when to stop exercise or refer patients back to medical staff. You'll also maintain equipment and documentation.
The position demands 65% travel overall: 40% overnight trips (with hotel, meals, mileage, and a $125 nightly bonus covered by Ascension) and 25% local travel within an hour of the Indianapolis office. A bachelor's degree is required, with a master's preferred. You must obtain BLS certification within 30 days of hire. While an ACSM Exercise Physiologist credential, Athletic Trainer certification, or EKG background are preferred qualifications, they're not mandatory. This role suits someone with clinical exercise experience who can work independently with patients and is willing to travel regularly as part of the job.
