About this role
Flow Traders is seeking a PhD-level quantitative researcher to develop and deploy trading models and algorithms for their Amsterdam-based proprietary trading operation. You would spend your time designing systematic trading strategies by analyzing market data for actionable patterns, then collaborating with traders and engineers to move those models into live production. The work involves continuous refinement based on real market performance—balancing rigorous research with the practical demands of competitive trading.
The role expects deep expertise in mathematics, statistics, and linear algebra, with the ability to implement complex models in Python or C++. A background in deep learning is valued but not required. Success here demands strong problem-solving skills and comfort working independently on ambiguous, open-ended challenges, paired with genuine ownership and entrepreneurial drive. You'll be joining a firm that explicitly builds its culture around leveraging advances in computer science and machine learning to generate market edge.
Flow Traders emphasizes a collaborative, non-hierarchical environment with access to ongoing learning through Flow Academy and domain conferences. The package includes competitive salary with annual discretionary profit share, comprehensive benefits, and perks ranging from catered lunches and an in-house gym to a company boat and global rotation opportunities. This is a full-time, in-office role in Amsterdam.
