Description

Company Overview

Echo Neurotechnologies is an exciting new startup in the Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) space, driving innovation through advanced hardware engineering and AI solutions. Our mission is to deliver cutting-edge technologies that restore autonomy to people living with disabilities and improve their quality of life.

Team Culture

Join a small, dedicated team of knowledgeable and motivated professionals. Our early-stage environment offers the opportunity to take ownership of broad decisions with significant and long-lasting impact. We emphasize continuous learning and growth, fostering cross-functional collaboration where your contributions are vital to our success.

Role Overview

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will drive electrical system architecture and circuit design for medical
devices spanning wearables to active implants. You will work across the full stack of low-power medical
electronics, from novel sensing modalities and sensor front-ends to wireless power and communication
systems, taking designs from concept through simulation, silicon, and board bring-up to a validated product.
You bring a robust core skillset in electrical engineering, specialist know-how in one or more related areas, and
enjoy working across the boundaries between hardware, firmware, mechanical, and software.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Architecture: Architect and design EE systems integrating compute, sensing, power, and
communications within tightly power- and space-constrained form factors, from body-worn wearables to
    implants.
  • Sensing & Sensors: Explore, evaluate, and prototype novel sensing modalities and sensor interfaces,
    translating concepts into product-oriented designs.

  • Electrical & Circuit Design: Design and characterize analog/mixed-signal circuits for wearable and
implantable applications, including simulation, statistical validation, and bench characterization.
  • Wireless Power: Develop custom wireless power transfer systems with a focus on high end-to-end
efficiency, robust performance across varying coupling conditions, and modern control methods.
  • Electromagnetic Simulation: Perform EM simulations to design and optimize wireless power coils and
communication antennas (BLE, Wi-Fi, UWB, etc.), and correlate simulation results with measurements.

  • Mixed-Signal ASIC Development: Contribute to ASIC architecture definition, develop new
analog/mixed-signal modules and IP, run block- and system-level simulations, and lead post-silicon
    validation.
  • PCBA Development: Develop and own PCBAs from schematic capture and layout through bring-up,
    debug, and design iteration.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field. Equivalent experience and exceptional
    capabilities will be considered.
  • Specialist expertise in one or more of: mixed-signal ASIC development, wireless power systems, radios
    and antennas.
  • Experience in analog/mixed-signal circuit design experience (simulation, characterization, statistical
    validation).
  • Experience developing systems with MCUs and FPGAs.
  • Experience with RF/EM simulation tools and methods (e.g., Ansys HFSS, CST Studio Suite, Ansys
    Maxwell, or equivalent).
  • Hands-on lab proficiency with instruments such as oscilloscopes, spectrum and vector network
analyzers, impedance analyzers, and source measure units.
  • Functional knowledge of C, Python, and Verilog.
  • Comfortable working across hardware, firmware, mechanical, and software boundaries and
    collaborating with cross-functional device teams.
Salary
$145,000—$185,000 USD

About this role

Echo Neurotechnologies is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design of medical devices at the frontier of brain-computer interfaces, working on systems that range from body-worn wearables to active implants. This role demands deep expertise across the full stack of low-power medical electronics—from novel sensor architectures and analog front-ends through wireless power and communication systems—with responsibility for taking designs from concept through silicon validation and product deployment. You'll own critical technical decisions in a small, early-stage team where your work directly shapes the company's ability to restore autonomy to people with disabilities.

The position requires a strong foundation in electrical engineering plus specialist depth in at least one domain: mixed-signal ASIC development, wireless power systems, or RF/antenna design. You should be comfortable with EM simulation tools, hands-on lab characterization, and the full PCBA lifecycle from schematic to bring-up. Equally important is your ability to work fluidly across hardware, firmware, mechanical, and software boundaries—this is a genuinely cross-functional role where collaboration and adaptability matter as much as technical prowess.

This is an in-office role in San Francisco with a salary range of $145,000–$185,000, stock options, comprehensive benefits, and 401(k) matching. The environment prioritizes continuous learning and ownership; if you thrive in early-stage settings where your contributions have outsized impact, and you have the depth to lead electrical architecture on cutting-edge medical hardware, this role offers both technical challenge and meaningful purpose.
