Description

LA28 does not provide relocation assistance for any positions.

If you are based outside the Los Angeles area, we still welcome your application — we value talent from all geographic backgrounds and want to hear from you if you are able to work on-site in LA.

Role Purpose

You will design the security that protects athletes, officials, and Games clients from the moment they land in Los Angeles for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. As Manager, Arrivals and Departures Security, you define the end-to-end security model from Point of Entry through onward movement to Villages, hotels, and other controlled destinations. You build the airport security interface, screening model, controlled movement framework, and baggage chain of custody, working with airport operations, federal partners, and LA28 functional areas every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the security component of the Arrivals and Departures Concept of Operations and its end-to-end security model.
  • Develop the Security Interface Plan for LAX and other Points of Entry with airport operations, Public Safety partners, and federal agencies.
  • Translate LA28 Security and applicable NSSE requirements into a practical person, baggage, and vehicle screening model for movements.
  • Define the controlled movement framework and a single baggage security and chain-of-custody framework with partner functional areas.
  • Draft planning documents, decision logs, and issue trackers, escalate risks, and support the transition to Games-time operations.

Required Competencies

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in security planning, security operations, transportation or airport security, logistics security, or public safety coordination.
  • Experience defining screening and access control requirements for people, baggage, and vehicles in a high-tempo operational environment.
  • Experience coordinating security interfaces with airport operations, federal agencies, and public safety partners.
  • Ability to design chain-of-custody, exception, and fallback procedures that close gaps without creating unnecessary friction.
  • Strong writing skills for security concepts, decision logs, and briefing materials, with clear escalation of risks.

Valued Experience

  • Experience working in or with airport environments, strongly preferred.
  • Experience supporting major events or multi-venue operations.
  • Experience with transportation hubs or large logistics networks.
  • Knowledge of National Special Security Event planning.
  • Experience with large-scale public-facing operations.

What We Offer

  • Real ownership of the security model that welcomes the world's athletes to Los Angeles.
  • Close partnership with airport, federal, and public safety agencies.
  • A high-trust Security team that values sound judgment and pragmatic design.
  • A direct role in keeping the Olympic and Paralympic Games safe and moving.

Every athlete and official's Games begins at the airport. The security model you design keeps their arrival and departure safe, controlled, and smooth, so they reach their Village, hotel, or venue safely and ready to compete.

About this role

LA28 is building the security infrastructure for athlete arrivals and departures at the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and this role owns that end-to-end design. You'll work from the point athletes land at LAX through their movement to Villages, hotels, and competition venues—defining screening protocols, baggage chain of custody, controlled movement frameworks, and the security interfaces between airport operations, federal agencies, and LA28 teams. This is planning and coordination work that translates high-level security requirements into practical, workable procedures that move thousands of people safely without creating operational gridlock.

You'll need at least five years in security planning, airport or transportation security, logistics, or public safety coordination, with demonstrated experience designing screening and access control systems in fast-moving environments and managing relationships across airport, federal, and public safety partners. Strong writing skills matter here—you'll produce security concepts, decision logs, risk escalations, and briefing materials that guide implementation. Airport experience is strongly preferred; background in major events, transportation hubs, or National Special Security Event planning is valued.

The role is full-time, in-office in Downtown Los Angeles, with salary from $88,000 to $115,000. Work hours will extend beyond standard business days, especially as the Games approach. LA28 does not offer relocation assistance, so you'll need to be able to work on-site in LA. This is a direct role in Olympic operations—the security model you design is how the world's athletes begin their Games experience.
