About this role
Heapy is looking for a senior-level engineer to lead commissioning and optimization work across HVAC systems, energy studies, and facility performance projects in the Cleveland market. You'd spend time both in the office and on job sites, conducting system testing, energy audits, and retro-commissioning activities while preparing analyses, reports, and recommendations for clients. The role requires translating technical findings into clear business cases and working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to meet project deadlines.
The position calls for a 4-year engineering degree (or equivalent technical background) plus 6 to 9 years of hands-on experience in commissioning, HVAC systems, or energy work. You should be comfortable with CxAlloy software, testing equipment, and MEP system analysis. An FE certification is expected, and credentials like CEM, CxA, or PE are valued. Beyond technical skills, you'll mentor colleagues, lead client conversations, and stay current on energy codes and incentive programs.
This is a hybrid role that involves fieldwork—climbing ladders, accessing all areas of job sites, and working in varying weather—alongside office-based analysis and reporting. It suits someone with a strong technical foundation who wants to grow into a leadership position while working on projects that directly impact building performance and sustainability.
