About this role
Hyliion's new Austin facility is building out metal 3D printing operations, and this technician role sits at the center of that startup phase. You'd work directly with the engineering team to set up and run print jobs on metal powder bed systems, then handle post-print work like powder removal and preparation for finishing. The position blends hands-on equipment operation with process improvement—you'd contribute to making the printing workflow faster and more reliable as the operation scales.
The role demands at least five years in a hands-on manufacturing or lab environment, with direct experience on additive manufacturing and CNC equipment. You'll need strong mechanical intuition, attention to detail, and the ability to troubleshoot and take initiative without constant direction. This is an hourly position in a production/engineering lab setting, with potential for overtime, and you should be comfortable lifting up to 25 pounds and traveling as needed.
Hyliion offers a standard benefits package including medical, dental, and vision coverage, disability insurance paid by the company, HSA/FSA options, and 401k with Roth choice. Note that visa sponsorship is not available for this role, and it requires in-office work in Austin.
