About this role
Working in Acme Markets' Portland distribution center, you'd be responsible for maintaining the sanitation and food safety standards that keep products safe from warehouse to store shelf. The role centers on hands-on cleaning and facility maintenance—sweeping, mopping, pressure washing, and managing waste—alongside monitoring for food safety issues, spills, and hazards that need reporting. You'd also handle restroom and break room upkeep, manage chemical supplies and hazardous materials according to protocol, and work with powered equipment like floor scrubbers and pressure washers as trained.
This is a full-time position suited to someone with warehouse or industrial sanitation experience who understands food safety practices and chemical handling. You'll need to be comfortable working independently, staying alert to safety concerns, and communicating observations to supervision. The work is physically demanding—lifting up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally 70–100 pounds—and takes place in a warehouse environment with temperature swings, outdoor work in all seasons, and exposure to moisture and cleaning chemicals. Regular attendance and flexibility for overtime, weekends, and holidays are required.
