About this role
Trilon Group's Chief Bridge Engineer role is designed for a seasoned structural professional ready to lead rather than just contribute. You'll manage complex DOT projects across the Southeast, serve as Engineer of Record on multi-disciplined transportation work, and set the technical direction for bridge design—from conceptual alternatives through construction support. The position demands deep expertise in AASHTO LRFD standards, FDOT criteria, and the full suite of bridge design software, along with 20+ years of hands-on bridge design experience and 15+ years as a licensed PE.
Beyond project delivery, you'll drive business development for major pursuits, lead marketing efforts including FDOT responses and client presentations, and build the structures practice by mentoring junior and mid-level engineers. This is a leadership role that combines technical authority with people development and growth strategy. The company offers competitive compensation, strong benefits including tuition reimbursement and a formal mentorship program, and clear career paths for both management and technical advancement.
The role requires Florida PE licensure (or the ability to obtain it) and an ABET-accredited civil or structural engineering degree. An SE certification, master's degree, or experience with specialized structures like post-tensioning would strengthen your candidacy, though the core requirement is proven mastery of bridge design, software proficiency, and the ability to lead high-performing teams.
