About this role
Leading Ascension's Health Information Management Department in Nashville requires someone who can balance operational oversight with hands-on coding expertise. This role manages the full scope of Records, Coding, Audit, and Transcription functions—overseeing daily operations, quality outcomes, budget management, and physician relations while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. You'll hire and develop your team, conduct performance evaluations, and drive continuous improvement across the department.
This position demands both technical credibility and management capability. You must hold one of several coding or health information credentials (CCS, COC, CPC, or RHIA/RHIT from AHIMA or AAPC) before your start date, plus at least one year of leadership experience. The education requirement is flexible: a high school diploma with three years of relevant experience, an associate degree with two years of experience, or four years of direct coding/health information work can all qualify, provided you meet that leadership threshold.
If you thrive managing systems and people in a healthcare setting, have the required certification, and are ready to work in-office in Nashville, this role offers the chance to shape how a major health system handles its information and coding operations.
