The Maintenance Technician is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing complex electrical, mechanical, and process systems across PCB manufacturing equipment. This role operates with a high level of autonomy and serves as a technical resource to support equipment reliability, continuous improvement, and operational uptime.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and repair of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and chemical systems across PCB manufacturing equipment.
- Diagnose root causes of equipment failures using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., fault isolation, trend analysis, data review).
- Execute and optimize preventative and predictive maintenance programs to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
- Lead or support equipment installation, commissioning, and process optimization projects.
- Identify systemic issues and drive corrective actions, including recommending design or process improvements.
- Develop, update, and standardize maintenance procedures (SOPs, PMs, troubleshooting guides).
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to lower-level technicians.
- Coordinate and collaborate with Process Engineering, Production, and external vendors on equipment performance and upgrades.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, manuals, and PLC/HMI interfaces as needed for troubleshooting.
- Manage parts, tools, and inventory needs; initiate purchase requisitions and support MRO optimization.
- Support environmental systems including wastewater treatment and chemical maintenance with a strong understanding of regulatory and operational requirements.
- Accurately document maintenance activities, root cause findings, and corrective actions in maintenance systems.
- Proactively identify risks to safety, quality, or production and take appropriate action.
- Follows the facilities and departments safety rules; utilizes proper personal protective equipment (eye protection, safety shoes, etc.) and reports safety hazards and incidents to supervisor.
- Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and fluid systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of preventative/predictive maintenance and equipment reliability principles.
- Familiarity with industrial controls (PLCs/HMIs) and ability to interpret technical documentation (schematics, manuals).
- Knowledge of safety standards, lockout/tagout procedures, and EH&S requirements.
- Advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and apply schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Effective communication and coordination with cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and make sound technical decisions.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical degree (AA/AS) or trade certification preferred.
- Typically 3–6+ years of relevant maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working and troubleshooting in the following areas: low/high voltage electrical (switches, transducers, motors, heaters, etc), instrumentation (setup, calibration), PLC (hardware, software), AC/DC drives (setup, calibration), electrical prints.
- Experience operating: hand tools, power tools, boom lift, scissor lift, fork lift.
- Comfortable working in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word) and Maintenance Systems (ServiceNow).
- Experience with PCB fabrication equipment strongly preferred.
Work may involve exposure to chemicals, fumes, noise, and manufacturing materials. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, protective clothing, and respiratory protection, is required in designated areas or when performing specific tasks. The ability to wear required respiratory protection is an essential function of the role. The position requires the ability to lift up to 44 pounds (20 kg) and safely operate manufacturing equipment, maintenance tools, and factory machinery. Occasional extended hours or schedule flexibility may be required to support production demands, audits, or investigations.
About this role
GreenSource Fabrication's Maintenance Technician role on the second shift (2:00pm–10:30pm) is a hands-on position focused on keeping PCB manufacturing equipment running reliably. You'll diagnose and repair complex electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and chemical systems, working largely on the production floor with significant autonomy. The work spans troubleshooting equipment failures, executing preventative and predictive maintenance programs, supporting equipment installations and process optimization, and mentoring junior technicians. You'll also coordinate with Process Engineering, Production, and vendors, manage maintenance documentation and parts inventory, and help drive continuous improvement across the facility.
This role demands strong technical depth across multiple disciplines. You'll need 3–6+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience with hands-on expertise in low and high voltage electrical systems, instrumentation, PLCs, AC/DC drives, and the ability to read schematics and technical drawings. PCB fabrication equipment experience is strongly preferred. You should be comfortable with hand and power tools, lifts, and forklifts, and capable of working independently to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment. A high school diploma is required; a technical degree or trade certification is preferred.
The position is physically demanding, requiring standing, walking, climbing, and lifting up to 44 pounds regularly. You'll work in environments with chemical exposure, noise, and manufacturing materials, using required PPE including respiratory protection in designated areas. Occasional extended hours may be needed to support production demands or investigations.
