About this role
Atwell's Power & Energy team is expanding and looking for an electrical engineer with 5–10+ years in power systems, renewables, or substations to design high-voltage infrastructure. You'd own engineering tasks across the full project lifecycle—from initial design through completion of technical packages—while working alongside civil, structural, and controls specialists. The work spans utility-scale wind and solar, battery storage systems, and transmission/distribution networks, with a focus on either protection & control design or electrical studies depending on team needs.
Your day-to-day would involve applying core electrical principles to complex systems, preparing technical documentation (one-lines, schematics, studies, specifications), and ensuring compliance with industry standards like NEC, NESC, and IEEE. You'd use tools such as ETAP, PSS/E, or SKM for load flow and arc flash analysis, conduct relay coordination studies, and translate findings into clear reports for clients. The role includes occasional travel (under 20%) for field work and client engagement, plus support for proposals and estimating.
This position suits someone with a strong foundation in power systems engineering who wants to contribute to renewable energy projects at a growing, nationally recognized firm. Atwell offers competitive compensation ($90K–$150K plus bonus), a 1:1 401(k) match up to 4%, tuition assistance, paid licensing fees, and flexible work arrangements where available. The company has been recognized as a Best Place to Work for ten consecutive years and is based in Georgia with in-office work expected.
