Description
Tenstorrent is leading the industry on cutting-edge AI technology, revolutionizing performance expectations, ease of use, and cost efficiency. With AI redefining the computing paradigm, solutions must evolve to unify innovations in software models, compilers, platforms, networking, and semiconductors. Our diverse team of technologists have developed a high performance RISC-V CPU from scratch, and share a passion for AI and a deep desire to build the best AI platform possible. We value collaboration, curiosity, and a commitment to solving hard problems. We are growing our team and looking for contributors of all seniorities.
Tenstorrent is hiring an ATE Test Development Engineer who can build sophisticated, scalable test solutions on the Advantest V93000 platform using SmartTest 8, custom code, and low‑level tester APIs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys writing clean, modular software that directly touches hardware, understands how measurements are supposed to work, and can drive experiments that isolate variables across silicon, instrumentation, and test methodology. You will own the development, debug, datalogging, and optimization of ATE test content for NPI and production, ensuring our devices are thoroughly characterized, efficiently tested, and ready for high‑volume manufacturing.
This role is hybrid, based out of Austin,TX; Santa Clara,CA; or Fort Collins, CO.
We welcome candidates at various experience levels for this role. During the interview process, candidates will be assessed for the appropriate level, and offers will align with that level, which may differ from the one in this posting.
Who You Are
- You bring 10+ years of experience in ATE test development, semiconductor test engineering, or post-silicon validation.
- You are proficient with Advantest V93000, SmartTest 8, tester APIs, C++ or Java, and Python automation.
- You understand ATE instrumentation, including DPS, PMU, RF/HSIO, timing sets, multisite execution, and tester-to-DUT behavior.
- You are a structured problem solver with experience in controlled experimentation, root-cause isolation, cross-domain debug, and semiconductor test methodologies.
What We Need
- Develop and maintain modular ATE test programs and measurement libraries for NPI and production on the Advantest V93000.
- Implement and optimize parametric, functional, scan, BIST, and system-level test flows using tester APIs and custom measurement sequences.
- Debug ATE failures and support product engineering with characterization, Vmin/Fmax extraction, guard-band definition, production limits, and correlation to bench, SLT, and validation results.
- Build robust datalogging and automation solutions while improving test time, multisite efficiency, measurement stability, yield analysis, and regression testing.
What You Will Learn
- How to develop scalable production test solutions for high-performance AI and compute silicon.
- How to connect test methodology, instrumentation behavior, silicon performance, and manufacturing requirements.
- Techniques for silicon characterization, Vmin/Fmax extraction, guard-band definition, yield learning, and automated failure triage.
- How ATE test content progresses from NPI bring-up and debug through production release and high-volume manufacturing.
Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
Tenstorrent offers a highly competitive compensation package and benefits, and we are an equal opportunity employer.
This offer of employment is contingent upon the applicant being eligible to access U.S. export-controlled technology. Due to U.S. export laws, including those codified in the U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the Company is required to ensure compliance with these laws when transferring technology to nationals of certain countries (such as EAR Country Groups D:1, E1, and E2). These requirements apply to persons located in the U.S. and all countries outside the U.S. As the position offered will have direct and/or indirect access to information, systems, or technologies subject to these laws, the offer may be contingent upon your citizenship/permanent residency status or ability to obtain prior license approval from the U.S. Commerce Department or applicable federal agency. If employment is not possible due to U.S. export laws, any offer of employment will be rescinded.
About this role
Tenstorrent is building AI accelerators and high-performance compute silicon, and this role puts you at the center of ensuring those devices work reliably at scale. You'll develop and own ATE test programs on the Advantest V93000 platform—writing modular test content, measurement sequences, and automation that move silicon from NPI debug through production. The work spans functional and parametric testing, BIST, characterization (Vmin/Fmax extraction, guard-band definition), datalogging, and yield analysis, with direct accountability for test time optimization, multisite efficiency, and correlation across bench, SLT, and validation environments.
This is a hands-on engineering role that demands both breadth and depth. You need 10+ years in ATE test development or post-silicon validation, solid command of SmartTest 8, tester APIs, C++/Java, and Python, and a working understanding of instrumentation (DPS, PMU, RF/HSIO, timing). Beyond tools, you'll need the mindset of a structured problem solver—someone comfortable isolating variables across silicon, instrumentation, and methodology to root-cause failures and drive experiments that inform production limits.
The role is hybrid across Austin, Santa Clara, or Fort Collins. Tenstorrent explicitly welcomes candidates at various experience levels and will calibrate the offer and level accordingly during the interview process. Compensation ranges from $100k to $500k depending on experience, skills, and location.
