About this role

Walker Meadow Retirement Community in Grand Rapids is hiring a Resident Care Assistant for their assisted living and memory care departments, working 21 hours per week on the 4pm–10pm shift. The role centers on direct personal care—helping residents with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility—along with supporting meals, monitoring vital signs, and responding promptly to resident needs. You'd be responsible for maintaining clean, comfortable living spaces and reporting any changes in resident condition to leadership, all while upholding confidentiality and compassionate care standards.

The position suits someone with prior caregiving experience and familiarity with activities of daily living (ADLs), though neither is required. You'll need to be comfortable lifting up to 35 pounds and ideally have some exposure to electronic medication administration systems. The schedule offers flexibility across Monday through Friday with every-other-weekend shifts, plus a $0.50 weekend premium.

Part-time benefits include vision and mental health coverage, a retirement savings plan with employer contributions, six paid holidays, two floating holidays, and $120 annual wellness reimbursement. The company also offers tuition assistance, daily pay access, and a $500 referral bonus. This role would appeal to someone seeking entry or mid-level caregiving work with structured benefits and the option to grow within the organization.
