About this role

Scout Motors is launching a new generation of electric and range-extended vehicles, and this role sits at the center of purchasing strategy for those projects. As Specialist, Project Steering & Control, you'd manage the planning and execution of major vehicle program deliverables from the Purchasing organization, working across R&D, Finance, Sales & Marketing, Quality, and supplier teams to balance cost, localization, and production readiness. The work splits into two distinct phases: an early planning phase focused on supplier development, cost targeting, and regional sourcing strategy, and a later implementation phase centered on tooling budgets, supply chain execution, and launch readiness at the Blythewood, SC production facility.

This is a high-visibility coordinator role that demands strong cross-functional communication and project discipline. You'll own reporting to management on cost, tooling investment, and part availability; resolve supplier and cost escalations; support buyers on complex negotiations; and track adherence to aggressive timelines and milestones. Success requires the ability to synthesize information from multiple stakeholders in Germany, Michigan, and North Carolina, establish clear communication protocols, and keep large programs on track through competing priorities.

The position is based in Charlotte or Novi, Michigan, with an expectation of 4–5 days per week in the office and travel to supplier and production sites. Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $112,500 annually. This suits someone with project management experience, comfort in matrix organizations, and a track record of managing complex cross-functional deliverables—particularly in automotive, supply chain, or manufacturing environments.
