Job Description:

We are seeking a Principal Full-Stack Developer to support an exciting mission focused on revolutionizing tradecraft. In this role, you will work directly with mission stakeholders to define requirements and architect, develop, integrate, and deploy enterprise solutions that bring together cloud infrastructure, data engineering, visualization, software development, and artificial intelligence/ machine learning (AI/ML) capabilities. The ideal candidate for this position will be a senior technical developer with strong Python and Java expertise and broad experience across AWS, enterprise data platforms, application programming interface (API) development, and the operationalization of advanced analytics and AI. Please consider applying if you meet the following qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • TS/SCI with polygraph security clearance.
  • A Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Computer Science or a related field and eleven (11) years of relevant experience. Also acceptable are a Doctoral degree (PH.D.) and seven (7) years, a Master of Science (M.S.) degree and nine (9) years, or an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree and thirteen (13) years of experience.
  • Strong software development experience with Python and Java.

  • Experience designing and developing full-stack applications and RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with AWS cloud technologies and cloud-native application development.
  • Experience designing, developing, or supporting enterprise data warehouses and data engineering solutions.
  • Experience developing Business Intelligence capabilities, dashboards, data visualizations, and analytical applications.
  • Experience with Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and application orchestration.
  • Knowledge of AI/ML development and MLOps practices, including the transition of models and analytical prototypes into operational environments.
  • Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs) and prompt engineering techniques.
  • Experience using Jupyter Notebooks for analytical development, prototyping, or data science workflows.

About this role

NetSage is looking for a senior full-stack developer to lead technical work on a national security mission centered on advancing tradecraft capabilities. You would partner directly with mission stakeholders to define requirements and then architect, develop, and deploy enterprise solutions that integrate cloud infrastructure, data engineering, visualization, and AI/ML—a genuinely broad technical scope that demands someone comfortable moving across the full stack.

The role requires deep expertise in Python and Java, paired with hands-on experience across AWS, enterprise data platforms, RESTful API development, and operationalizing analytics and AI models. You should be comfortable with containerization tools like Docker and Kubernetes, visualization platforms like Tableau or Power BI, and modern practices around MLOps and LLM integration. Experience with R, Jupyter Notebooks, and data warehouse design rounds out the technical picture. This is a contract position based in Annapolis Junction, Maryland, and requires TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.

The baseline qualification path is a B.S. in Computer Science or related field plus eleven years of relevant experience; advanced degrees can reduce the experience requirement. If you have the security clearance already or can obtain it, and your background genuinely spans these multiple domains rather than being deep in just one, this role offers the chance to work on meaningful, mission-critical problems at a company that emphasizes retention and long-term career growth.
