About this role
Waggoner Engineering is looking for a Civil Designer to join their Baton Rouge office and take on a mix of technical design work and team support across water systems, stormwater, site development, and utility infrastructure projects. You'll spend your time developing CAD and BIM deliverables—drawings, models, reports—using Civil 3D and Revit, analyzing survey and GIS data, and coordinating with engineers and clients to ensure designs meet scope and standards. The role also involves quality control, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to cost estimates and feasibility studies.
This position calls for at least seven years of hands-on civil design experience, strong proficiency in Civil 3D and Revit, and ideally some track record leading or mentoring design teams. An associate degree in drafting, design, or engineering technology is the baseline; a bachelor's degree is preferred. You'll need to be detail-oriented, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, and able to juggle multiple projects under deadline pressure.
The salary range is $80,000 to $85,000, with a $5,000 signing bonus (subject to a clawback if you leave within 12 months). Waggoner offers competitive health benefits, an incentive program, flexible scheduling, and support for professional development and community involvement. This is a full-time, in-office role in Baton Rouge.
