About this role
Working in security at a major regional attraction, you'd be responsible for maintaining a safe environment across The Maritime Aquarium's 75 exhibits and grounds, protecting nearly 450,000 annual guests along with staff, volunteers, and over 8,000 animals. The role involves monitoring security systems, conducting facility inspections, responding to incidents, managing package deliveries, and handling lost and found operations. You'd also be expected to respond flexibly to emergencies and maintain 24/7 coverage as part of a security team.
The position requires three years of prior security experience, current CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and a Connecticut Guard Card. You'll need strong communication skills, the ability to lift 50 pounds regularly, and comfort moving throughout a large facility and its grounds. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, though the posting notes that flexibility across all shifts, weekends, and holidays is strongly preferred to support round-the-clock facility coverage.
At $19 per hour, this part-time role includes health insurance, retirement benefits, paid leave, and a free family membership to the Aquarium. It's a fit for someone with established security credentials seeking flexible, varied work in a public-facing environment.
