About this role
Suncorp's SUN & GIO team in Newcastle is hiring part-time Customer Service Specialists to handle inbound insurance enquiries and support customers through policy decisions. You'll be the first point of contact for customers calling about their insurance needs, helping them understand products, manage renewals, and find solutions that fit their circumstances. The role balances genuine customer care with performance targets, requiring you to navigate multiple systems while explaining complex information clearly and building rapport through each conversation.
You'll need customer-facing experience—whether from customer service, retail, hospitality, contact centre, or sales—along with strong communication skills, problem-solving ability, and comfort with technology. Insurance knowledge isn't required; Suncorp provides seven weeks of paid full-time training starting 4 November 2026 before you transition to your part-time schedule. The company values resilience, adaptability, and a growth mindset, and is looking for people genuinely motivated to help others rather than those seeking a transactional role.
Part-time options range from 22.5 to 30 hours weekly across various day and shift combinations, all based in the Newcastle office with flexibility to move to hybrid arrangements after training. Beyond the role itself, Suncorp offers hybrid working, performance-based incentives, 20 weeks paid parental leave, wellbeing support, career development, and access to their rewards platform—making this a solid option if you're seeking part-time work with genuine development potential in a large financial services employer.
