Description

Trilon Group is a private equity-backed investment platform acquiring and scaling leading infrastructure consulting businesses. We partner with best-in-class firms to accelerate growth through investment in people, technology, operational capabilities, and targeted M&A.

We are hiring a Vice President of Corporate Development to lead transactions from the first substantive conversation through diligence, negotiation, closing, and integration.

This role offers significant autonomy and visibility. The Vice President will work closely with the Head of M&A, Trilon's executive team, regional leaders, and partner firm presidents while leading and developing Analysts and Associates. The position is well suited for someone with a strong M&A foundation who is ready to become accountable for moving complex transactions forward and ensuring each deal creates long-term value. The role is based in Trilon's Denver office and requires regular in-office presence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead three to five acquisitions annually across the full transaction lifecycle, from initial evaluation and seller engagement through diligence, negotiation, execution, and integration.
  • Develop investment theses and evaluate strategic fit, financial performance, growth potential, risks, and value-creation opportunities.
  • Direct financial modeling, valuation, deal structuring, and returns analysis, providing clear recommendations to senior leadership and the Investment Committee.
  • Lead financial and operational diligence across revenue, clients, projects, employees, leadership, market position, and other critical areas of the business.
  • Build trusted relationships with founders, owners, and management teams while representing Trilon's partnership model throughout the transaction process.
  • Coordinate internal stakeholders and manage external legal, accounting, tax, insurance, market, and other transaction advisors.
  • Prepare and present decision materials to Trilon's executive team and Investment Committee, clearly articulating the strategic rationale, economics, risks, and recommended path forward.
  • Partner with regional and operating company leaders to align transaction decisions with business priorities and support a thoughtful transition into integration.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop Analysts and Associates, setting clear expectations and raising the quality of analysis, judgment, and execution across the team.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 4+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or a similarly rigorous M&A environment.
  • Demonstrated experience executing M&A transactions and leading major workstreams with increasing independence.
  • Advanced financial modeling, valuation, financial statement analysis, and transaction structuring capabilities.
  • Experience managing diligence processes and coordinating internal teams and third-party advisors against demanding timelines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distill complex analysis into clear recommendations for senior decision-makers.
  • A bachelor's degree and a record of strong academic and professional performance

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
  • A strong combination of analytical horsepower and emotional intelligence, with the ability to move comfortably between detailed financial work and high-trust conversations with sellers.
  • Sound judgment and a willingness to recommend against a transaction when it is not right for Trilon, rather than pursuing deals simply to generate volume.
  • A relationship-oriented approach and the ability to build credibility quickly with founders, executives, regional leaders, and internal partners.
  • A hands-on leadership style and genuine interest in developing junior team members through feedback, coaching, and meaningful responsibility.
  • High personal standards, resilience, and the drive to deliver excellent work in an entrepreneurial environment with significant autonomy.
  • Intellectual curiosity and an interest in understanding the operating businesses behind the numbers, not only the transaction mechanics.

About this role

Trilon Group is building a platform of infrastructure consulting businesses through acquisition and operational scaling, and this Vice President role sits at the center of that strategy. You would lead three to five deals annually across the complete lifecycle—from initial seller conversations through diligence, negotiation, and integration—while working closely with the Head of M&A, the executive team, and operating company leaders. This is a high-autonomy position with real visibility; you'll be the primary driver of complex transactions and will present investment theses and deal recommendations directly to senior leadership and the Investment Committee.

The role demands someone with at least four years of rigorous M&A experience in investment banking, private equity, or corporate development, with demonstrated capability in financial modeling, valuation, diligence management, and deal structuring. You'll need strong judgment—including the confidence to recommend walking away from a deal—and the ability to move fluidly between detailed financial analysis and relationship-building with founders and executives. Beyond technical skills, Trilon is looking for someone who combines analytical rigor with emotional intelligence, who can build credibility quickly across internal and external stakeholders, and who has genuine interest in understanding the operating businesses behind the numbers.

You'll also be expected to develop and mentor junior Analysts and Associates, raising the quality of analysis and execution across the team. The position is based in Denver and requires regular in-office presence. The salary range is $180,000 to $210,000, with final compensation determined by experience, skills, and other factors.
