About this role

Hawthorne Cat's Waipahu location is seeking a Tech 2 to serve as a resident technician at a dedicated customer site—a role that combines the autonomy and ownership of independent work with the technical backing and resources of a major Caterpillar dealership. You'll work with a stable, known fleet at a single location, handling engine repair, powertrain diagnostics, and hydraulic system maintenance with minimal day-to-day supervision while supporting critical infrastructure operations.

This position demands hands-on expertise across multiple heavy equipment systems. You'll diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, hydraulic components, and related systems, performing both routine maintenance and complex troubleshooting. The work is physically demanding—involving climbing, lifting up to 60 pounds regularly, extended periods in prone positions, and exposure to noise, temperature variations, and harsh substances. You'll need to meet flat-rate productivity standards and own your own hand tools.

The role is best suited for someone with at least five years of equipment service experience, a valid driver's license with a clean record, basic PC skills, and forklift certification (or the ability to obtain it within 60 days). A high school diploma or equivalent is required. This is a full-time, in-office position at $50,000 annually, offering the stability of a fixed location paired with genuine technical autonomy.
