About this role

Family of Kidz is hiring a Bus Behavior Attendant to work part-time on school transportation routes across Nassau and Suffolk counties. You'd support students with special needs during their commute, implementing individualized behavior plans, managing safety procedures, and collecting data on student progress—essentially freeing the driver to focus on the road while you handle supervision and behavioral support. The role follows the school calendar, so hours vary based on district schedules, and you'd earn $30 per hour.

The position suits someone with at least six months of experience supporting children or adolescents with special needs, ideally in a structured setting. A high school diploma is required, and background in psychology, healthcare, human services, or education is preferred. Experience with autism and challenging behaviors is a plus. You'll need strong communication skills, sound judgment, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and genuine commitment to confidentiality and student safety.

Beyond the hourly wage, Family of Kidz offers paid sick and safe leave, an employee assistance program, professional development support, and a referral program. The company has been serving children with special needs since 1998 and emphasizes collaborative, individualized approaches to helping students build independence and improve their quality of life.
