Are you an experienced welder ready for a new chapter in your career?

The Aviation Institute of Maintenance (AIM) is seeking experienced welders, combination welders, fabricators, and welding professionals to join our team as instructors.

If you have hands-on experience with MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding processes and enjoy mentoring others, this is your opportunity to transition from the field into a Welding Instructor role where you can help shape the next generation of skilled trades professionals.

At AIM, you’ll:

  • Share your real-world welding experience with future skilled trades professionals
  • Enjoy more predictable schedules compared to field work
  • Make a lasting impact on students entering the workforce
  • Continue growing your own technical knowledge while developing others

About this role

At the Aviation Institute of Maintenance's Atlanta campus, you'd transition from field welding into hands-on instruction, teaching MIG, TIG, Stick, and Flux-Core welding to students preparing for careers in skilled trades. The role combines technical demonstration with classroom management—you'd deliver safety training, blueprint reading, fabrication techniques, and AWS certification prep in both lab and classroom settings. AIM provides a structured five-day paid training program to support your shift into teaching, so no prior classroom experience is necessary.

The position calls for at least three years of hands-on welding experience and an AWS certification (required within your first six months if you don't have one). You'll maintain records, support curriculum updates, and help create a safety-focused learning environment while keeping lab equipment and materials in order. The schedule runs Monday through Thursday, 6am–2:30pm, with Friday hours from 6am–noon (with some flexibility), offering more predictability than field work typically allows.

Compensation is $30–$32 per hour based on experience. Benefits include 401(k) matching, health/dental/vision coverage, life insurance, paid time off, parental leave, an employee assistance program, and tuition reimbursement. This role suits experienced welders interested in mentoring and working within a compliance-driven educational setting who value a more stable schedule and the chance to shape the next generation of technicians.
