About this role

Woolpert's Energy Group is looking for a civil engineering intern to spend the summer (May–August) working on real infrastructure projects in Columbus. You'd join a team designing electrical substations and underground transmission systems, handling tasks like site grading, stormwater management, permitting, and plan production alongside licensed engineers. The role is full-time at 40 hours per week with a hybrid schedule, meaning you'll split time between the office and remote work as coordinated with your supervisor.

This internship suits someone pursuing a civil engineering degree (ideally at least sophomore status) who wants hands-on experience across multiple disciplines within a single market sector. You'll need solid communication skills, the ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Microstation—though those aren't deal-breakers if you're willing to learn. The pay ranges from $23 to $27 per hour. Note that Woolpert doesn't provide housing or relocation support, and you must already have work authorization in the US.
