About this role
Stonefield Engineering and Design is looking for civil engineering students to spend summer 2027 working hands-on with either their traffic or site/civil engineering teams in Tampa. The internship sits within a full-service firm that handles projects for private developers, universities, and public agencies, so you'd be exposed to real client work across different sectors and project types.
Depending on which team you join, you might be conducting traffic counts and field inspections, preparing traffic studies, or working on site investigations, concept design, and site plan drafting. The role involves a mix of fieldwork, meetings, and technical tasks like cost estimating and using GIS and 3-D modeling software. This is an in-office position, so you'll be based in the Tampa office working alongside the team rather than remotely.
The firm emphasizes problem-solving and learning, and positions itself as small enough to offer direct access to management but large enough to tackle diverse projects. If you're enrolled in an accredited civil engineering program and want practical experience in either transportation or site engineering before graduation, this could give you a solid foundation in how the work actually gets done.
