About this role
Horrocks is looking for a Rail Project Engineer to own the design and delivery of rail projects across multiple states, working from their Pleasant Grove office. You'd lead design efforts on concurrent projects ranging from small to large scale, coordinate with federal and state agencies on regulatory compliance, mentor junior CAD staff, and work directly with clients and Project Managers to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery. This role bridges technical engineering work with business development—you'll attend client meetings, strengthen relationships, and gain exposure to project management practices with an eye toward advancement.
The position requires a PE license and at least four years of experience in rail, transit, or site development, along with strong CAD skills and a solid grasp of railroad design, grading, and corridor planning. You should be comfortable managing multiple workstreams independently while collaborating across disciplines, and willing to travel occasionally for site visits and client meetings. The salary range is $100,000 to $140,000, with benefits including medical and dental coverage, generous PTO, a 401(k) match, and professional development support. Horrocks is employee-owned and emphasizes a values-driven culture, making this a good fit if you're looking to grow your engineering career within a stable, community-focused firm.
