About this role
Latitude AI, Ford's autonomous vehicle subsidiary, is seeking an Automotive Service Technician to support its Pittsburgh operations on a one-year contract. You'd join the Service Operations team working on electric and hybrid vehicles, with primary focus on integrating Latitude's autonomous technology into new vehicle builds and performing mechanical maintenance on the fleet. The role bridges traditional automotive service with cutting-edge autonomous systems development, offering exposure to diagnostic work in a field most technicians won't encounter elsewhere.
The position suits someone with at least two years of professional vehicle experience and a high school diploma or equivalent, comfortable working both independently and collaboratively. You'll handle up-fitting technology, perform repairs, create and install wiring systems, and develop diagnostic skills specific to autonomous vehicles. Strong documentation and communication matter here—you'll track findings, coordinate across engineering teams, and manage inventory. The hybrid arrangement is based in Pittsburgh, though expect occasional travel (up to 15%) for training or support at other Latitude locations.
Prior experience with vehicle conversions, autonomous or active safety equipment, or control module flashing would strengthen your candidacy, though these aren't required. The role demands physical capability for light-to-moderate lifting and frequent standing, walking, and detailed hands-on work. A valid driver's license and clean driving record are mandatory, verified before hire and periodically after.
