About this role
Precision for Medicine is seeking a Research Associate to join its Berlin laboratory, where you'll work hands-on with clinical patient samples to extract and analyze nucleic acids. The role centers on RNA and DNA isolation, purification at various scales, and quality control through techniques like qPCR, spectrophotometry, and fluorescence-based quantitation assays. You'll follow established standard operating procedures while contributing to process improvement by assisting with SOP development and evaluating new technologies.
This position suits someone with a bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or life sciences and at least two years of relevant lab experience. You'll need solid technical skills in nucleic acid extraction, qPCR/qRT-PCR, and quantitation assays like Ribogreen and Picogreen, along with proficiency in Excel and familiarity with Softmax Pro. The work also involves routine lab management—preparing reagents, maintaining equipment, ordering supplies, and meticulous record-keeping in batch documentation. Strong attention to detail, excellent documentation habits, and the ability to collaborate are essential, as is comfort working in cold freezer environments down to -196°C.
The in-office, full-time role in Berlin offers opportunities to develop expertise with automated extraction platforms and laboratory information systems if you bring that experience. Experience with Agilent Tapestation or other nucleic acid QC protocols is preferred but not required.
