About HumanSignal

Real-world data is the competitive edge in AI.

HumanSignal is a human data partner for companies building AI models and products. Our customers ship better AI, faster, because we partner with their researchers from real-world data creation to annotation to delivery.

We design and create datasets from scratch, recruit and manage the domain experts who evaluate model output, and run everything through our own platform, Label Studio, the open-source standard for data labeling and evaluation, used by over 1 million practitioners worldwide.

We specialize in the operationally complex: real-world data collection, multimodal pipelines, and multi-step workflows. Advanced ML and AI teams use our enterprise platform to run their own data factories, and our services team to extend their reach where in-house capacity runs out.

If you want to do work that materially shapes how the next generation of AI products gets built, we'd love to talk.

Paid Improv Performers and Voice Actors for an AI Research Study, Up to $500 per Session

Earn up to $500 for a four-hour session performing unscripted, improv-style scenes. HumanSignal is recruiting improv performers, voice actors, and live entertainers to take part in a paid research study. We record people doing everyday tasks and talking naturally so that researchers can study and improve how AI understands real human behavior. If you can hold a scene, think on your feet, and move and talk naturally without a script, you can do this work.

Compensation and logistics

  • Pay: Up to $500 per session. You earn $50/hour, plus $100 for each scene accepted into the study.
  • Type: Temporary, recurring gig work. Book one session or many.
  • Location: Virtual screening, then in-person recording at local studios.
  • Dates: Now through November 2026. Weekday, evening, and weekend slots are available.
  • Referral bonus: Earn $100 for each performer you refer who completes a session. There's no limit on referrals.

What you will do

  • Perform unscripted scenes of everyday household activities, like cooking, tidying, and folding laundry, in a staged home environment.
  • Talk with a voice assistant as you work through each scene. Natural, spontaneous dialogue is the core of the job.
  • Bring the skills you already have. Improvisation, character work, and comfort performing without a script are exactly what we're looking for.

Who we are looking for

  • Age 18 or older, located in or near Las Vegas. Travel expenses may be covered for for qualifying talent outside the Las Vegas area.
  • Improv training or performance experience at any level, including classes, student troupes, community theatre, open mics, voice work, or live entertainment. Aspiring and amateur performers are encouraged to apply.
  • Comfortable being recorded on camera and audio for a full session.
  • Reliable and on time for scheduled sessions.

We welcome performers of all backgrounds and experience levels. A wide range of voices, speech patterns, and physical presence makes the research more representative of the real world.

How it works

  1. Apply with your name, email, phone number, and a link to sample work.
  2. We'll reach out to schedule a 15-minute screening call on Zoom or Google Meet.
  3. If you're a fit, book an in-person recording session. Evenings and weekends are available.
  4. Perform your session and get paid within a week. Book more sessions if you want them.

This is a research study

Every participant signs a plain-language research agreement before any recording. It states exactly how your recordings are used, and you can ask us anything about it before you commit.

  • HumanSignal conducts research projects that record people doing everyday tasks in staged environments in order to develop and improve AI and machine learning technologies.
  • We will not use your name, image, likeness, or voice to advertise, market, or promote any product or service without your separate written consent.
  • Your recordings are not shared publicly, and they are not used to clone your face or voice or to create synthetic media of you.

About this role

HumanSignal is recruiting performers for a paid research study that captures natural human behavior for AI training. You'll perform unscripted, everyday scenes—cooking, cleaning, doing laundry—in a staged home environment, speaking naturally with a voice assistant. Sessions run four hours, and you earn $50 per hour plus $100 for each scene accepted into the study, totaling up to $500 per session. The work is temporary and flexible; you can book single sessions or multiple ones through November 2026, with weekday, evening, and weekend slots available.

This role suits improv performers, voice actors, and live entertainers who are comfortable thinking on their feet without a script. Any level of experience qualifies—from formal improv training to community theatre, open mics, or voice work. You'll need to be at least 18, located in or near Las Vegas, reliable about scheduling, and comfortable being recorded on camera and audio for full sessions. The application process is straightforward: submit your contact information and sample work, complete a 15-minute screening call, then schedule your in-person recording at a local studio.

The study is transparent about how your recordings are used. You'll sign a plain-language research agreement before recording, and HumanSignal commits not to use your name, image, likeness, or voice for advertising without separate written consent. Your recordings stay private and won't be used to create synthetic media of you. There's also a $100 referral bonus for each performer you bring in who completes a session.
