About this role

ALTEN Technology USA is seeking a Tooling Design Engineer to support aerospace manufacturing operations in Lansing. This contract role focuses on the full lifecycle of production tooling—from designing tools, gauges, and manufacturing aids to analyzing performance and troubleshooting issues in the field. You'll work with CAD software (primarily Siemens NX/Teamcenter) to create designs for CNC machining, turning, and additive manufacturing processes, while collaborating with internal teams and external vendors to ensure tooling meets specifications and performs as intended.

The position requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 10 years of hands-on tooling design experience, with demonstrated proficiency in 3D CAD modeling and assembly work. You'll need strong command of engineering drawings, GD&T, and design review processes, along with analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate tooling performance and drive continuous improvement. Aerospace MRO experience and familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles are valued but not required. U.S. citizenship is mandatory due to the sensitive nature of government and military aerospace work.

This role suits an experienced tooling engineer ready to apply deep technical expertise in a structured manufacturing environment, with the backing of a large global engineering firm. Be aware that pre-employment drug screening and federal contractor compliance requirements apply.
