About this role
SKIMS is seeking a Director of Buying and Planning to lead commercial strategy for its kids category—one of the brand's fastest-growing segments. You'd own the full buying and planning function across DTC, retail, and wholesale channels, driving assortment architecture, inventory optimization, and financial performance. This is a strategic role that requires translating customer insights and market trends into actionable commercial plans while ensuring product strategies remain financially sound and operationally executable across global markets.
The position demands someone with 10+ years of progressive buying, merchandising, or commercial strategy experience in apparel or consumer products, ideally with significant background in children's wear, basics, or intimates. You'll need strong financial acumen—particularly in margin optimization and OTB management—along with advanced Excel proficiency and hands-on experience with merchandising systems like Anaplan or SAP. Beyond the analytical toolkit, the role requires a leader who can balance long-term strategy with execution details, influence cross-functional teams through data and insight, and thrive in a fast-paced environment where decisions often come with incomplete information.
You'll build and mentor a buying and planning team while partnering closely with Design, Product Development, Supply Chain, Retail, Ecommerce, and Finance. The role is based in Los Angeles and requires in-office presence. The salary range is $145,000–$165,000 annually.
