About this role
Trilon Group is seeking a Transportation Design and Planning Engineer to lead active transportation and multimodal projects across Utah and the Intermountain West. You'd split your time between planning-level work—corridor studies, feasibility analyses, and comprehensive transportation plans—and technical design of trails, shared-use paths, bike lanes, and complete streets. The role requires applying AASHTO and UDOT standards, preparing specifications and cost estimates, and coordinating across disciplines like traffic, drainage, and utilities. You'd also support public engagement, mentor junior staff, and contribute to client relationships.
This position suits someone with 5–10 years of transportation engineering or planning experience and a Utah PE license. You'll need strong proficiency in Civil 3D or OpenRoads, solid technical writing skills, and the ability to communicate complex information to clients and the public. Experience with UDOT projects, trail design, corridor planning, or work with state DOTs and MPOs is preferred but not required. The role values both independent work and collaboration, so you should be organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable moving between strategic planning and hands-on design.
Trilon Group (operating as Horrocks) offers a competitive salary of $100,000–$150,000, flexible comp time for hours over 40 per week, and benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, generous PTO, and professional development support. The position is full-time and based in Pleasant Grove, Utah, with in-office work expected.
