About this role
Trilon Group (operating as Horrocks) is looking for a mid-level Traffic Engineer to lead the design and delivery of signing, striping, and maintenance of traffic solutions across highway and intersection projects in the Cottonwood Heights area. You'd own design tasks from analysis through plan preparation, working on interstates, freeways, and complex interchanges while collaborating with senior engineers, project managers, and clients. This hybrid role suits someone with 4–8 years of traffic engineering experience who's ready to deepen technical expertise, take on small to mid-scale projects with minimal oversight, and eventually mentor junior staff.
The position requires a PE license and strong command of industry software—MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD, and traffic modeling tools like Synchro or Vissim. You'll need solid knowledge of DOT standards and local design criteria, plus the communication skills to lead technical discussions and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams. Roadway design experience is preferred but not required.
Compensation ranges from $90,000 to $125,000, with a notable comp time policy that lets you convert overtime hours to additional pay or PTO. Benefits include standard medical and retirement (401k with 50% match up to 6%), generous PTO, professional development support, and a sign-on bonus for qualified candidates.
