About this role

Trilon Group is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead traffic design work across multiple disciplines—MOT, signing, signals, ITS, and lighting—on projects ranging from planning through construction support. You would serve as the technical lead on assignments of varying scale, managing quality control against MUTCD, FHWA, AASHTO, and DOT standards while coordinating with roadway, structural, and construction teams. The role also includes mentoring junior staff and supporting business development efforts.

This position calls for a PE license and ideally PTOE certification, backed by 8–12+ years in traffic engineering with depth in at least one specialty area. You'll need hands-on experience with industry software (MicroStation, AutoCAD Civil 3D, SignCAD, and others), solid knowledge of DOT and local agency standards, and proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and budgets, and communicate clearly with clients and cross-functional teams. Prior relationships with transportation agencies are valued.

The role is hybrid-based in Reno and offers a salary of $130,000–$170,000, along with medical, dental, and vision coverage, generous PTO, a 401(k) match, professional development support, and paid memberships. Notably, Trilon offers comp time for hours over 40 per week, which can be taken as additional pay or banked as PTO.
