Description

About the company

Steadfast Health was founded to establish a new standard of substance use disorder (SUD) care. Recognizing that traditional treatment methods often fall short of reaching patients when they’re most in need, Steadfast is relentlessly focused on making low-barrier, high quality care accessible to all. We know that the journey to recovery is unique for every individual, and our patient-centered approach ensures we meet patients where they are, providing evidence-based therapies with unwavering support in a compassionate environment that fosters healing and growth. We are growing rapidly and building a dedicated team of professionals who are committed.

Role Summary

As a Steadfast Health Float APP, you’ll practice at the top of your license, providing compassionate, evidence-based addiction medicine care across our inpatient consult and outpatient programs. Your primary focus will be supporting Tennessee inpatient consult overflow and emergent outpatient inductions, helping ensure patients receive timely treatment recommendations, medication initiation when clinically appropriate, and seamless connection to ongoing care.

Care without barriers. We believe people deserve respectful, evidence-based treatment on their terms. Our model is low-barrier, non-punitive, and harm-reductionist, and we partner with patients as respected equals. You'll use Motivational Interviewing principles to meet people where they are, often at a pivotal moment in their hospitalization.

This is a virtual-first role, with preference given to candidates based in the Nashville area to preserve the flexibility to provide in-person hospital support when needed. You’ll work closely with hospital providers, nursing teams, case managers, outpatient teams, and Steadfast leadership, with physician backup readily available.

What makes this role different:

  • Direct impact at the point of need. You'll help patients receive timely treatment recommendations and medication initiation when clinically appropriate, then connect them to ongoing care through a smooth handoff to Steadfast outpatient clinics.
  • Flexibility. Work virtually most of the time, with in-person hospital coverage when needed.
  • Room to grow. Steadfast is expanding across multiple states, and this role offers exposure to inpatient, outpatient, and virtual care models.
  • Benefits include:
    • Medical, dental & vision insurance, plus 100% employer-paid short- and long-term disability and life insurance
    • 401(k) with up to 5% company match
    • 29 days off a year to start (PTO, floating holidays, paid volunteer days), increasing on your anniversary — plus 4 Re-Fuel Days annually for mental health, rest, or CEU activities
    • $2,000 annual CEU stipend and ongoing paid training
    • Free, confidential EAP access to therapy, legal, financial, and wellness resources
    • Protected time built into your day for recharging, clinical supervision, huddles, care planning, and admin work
    • MA/LPN and Peer Recovery Specialist support, collaborative care model with physician backup, and manageable panel sizes so you can practice at the top of your license
    • Extra perks: SoFi student loan interest rate discount, Rightway Health Concierge, a year of free pet telehealth through Pawp, and Perkspot discount marketplace
    • Soulside AI documentation support — because your energy belongs with patients, not paperwork
    • We believe lived experience with recovery is a strength, not a barrier — many of our team bring personal or family experience with addiction and recovery, and we welcome candidates in recovery to apply

About this role

Steadfast Health is building a low-barrier addiction medicine program in Nashville, and this role sits at a critical intersection: you'd provide inpatient consult coverage for substance use disorder patients in hospital overflow situations, then conduct emergent outpatient medication inductions to bridge them into ongoing care. The work is primarily virtual, but your presence matters—you'd be on-call for in-person hospital support when needed, working alongside hospitalists, nursing teams, and case managers to ensure patients get timely, evidence-based treatment at a pivotal moment. This is fundamentally about meeting people where they are, using motivational interviewing and harm-reduction principles to move patients from crisis toward recovery without unnecessary barriers.

You'll need an active Tennessee license (NP or PA-C with hospital medicine background preferred), at least one to two years of hospital-based clinical experience, and solid grounding in substance use disorder assessment and medication management. The role expects you to stay current on addiction medicine, handle clinical complexity across inpatient and outpatient settings, and remain flexible as Steadfast expands—there's a possibility of supporting programs in Ohio or North Carolina if Tennessee demand allows. Physician backup is available, and you'll have collaborative support from MAs, LPNs, and peer recovery specialists.

The package includes solid benefits—medical, dental, vision, employer-paid disability and life insurance, 401(k) match, 29 days off annually plus four recharge days, a $2,000 CEU stipend, and EAP access. Steadfast explicitly welcomes candidates with lived recovery experience and recognizes it as a strength. This is a volunteer position, so compensation is not listed; clarify that detail before deciding to apply.
