Description
Annual MetOx International Futures Invitational
An Exclusive On-Site Experience for PhD and Master's Candidates
Apply to be selected for the second annual MetOx International Futures Invitational, a one-of-a-kind opportunity to showcase your research, interview for full-time opportunities at MetOx International, and explore how advanced science and engineering are shaping the future of superconductivity.
At MetOx International, we're pioneering the next era of energy security and abundance through breakthrough superconducting technology. We are a Houston-based startup transforming the future of energy and computing through advanced high-temperature superconducting (HTS) wire.
We are scaling production of next-generation superconducting wire using metal-organic chemical vapor deposition (MOCVD), physical vapor deposition (PVD), and electrochemistry. Our work spans the frontiers of materials science, plasma physics, thin-film engineering, equipment engineering, process automation, controls, and data science, all grounded in deep first-principles thinking.
We're not just building better materials. We're building the backbone of the next energy revolution.

About this role
MetOx International is inviting PhD and Master's graduates to a selective two-day recruiting event in Houston (January 26–27, 2027) designed to connect exceptional technical talent with full-time opportunities in advanced manufacturing. This is not a broad career fair but a curated experience where you'll present your research to leadership, tour the company's superconducting wire production facility, and interview for roles across their technical teams. The company is scaling next-generation high-temperature superconducting (HTS) wire using MOCVD, PVD, and electrochemistry—work that spans materials science, plasma physics, thin-film engineering, process automation, controls, and data science.
Full-time positions span multiple disciplines: thin-film process development, deposition equipment engineering, materials characterization, electrochemical surface engineering, process integration, controls and automation, and data science. Your background might be in materials science, chemical or mechanical engineering, plasma or thermal processes, or semiconductor manufacturing; direct experience with deposition technologies like MOCVD or PVD is valuable but not required. What matters is strong first-principles thinking, comfort moving across disciplines, and genuine interest in translating lab breakthroughs into scalable manufacturing.
If you're drawn to startup-pace problem solving and want to apply your advanced degree to energy technology at a critical scaling stage, this event offers a direct path to interview for a Houston-based role. All expenses for the two-day event are covered. Applications close November 20, 2026.
