About this role

Premier Truck Rental's Upfit Technician role centers on preparing commercial rental trucks for delivery through hands-on mechanical and electrical work. You'll perform dozens of installations monthly on F150-F750 series vehicles—tasks like wiring strobe lighting, installing toolboxes and transfer tanks, building ladder racks, and conducting pre-delivery inspections. The work demands precision with both hand and power tools, basic troubleshooting ability, and attention to quality standards that must pass final inspection before vehicles leave the shop.

The position requires one to two years of mechanical or electrical experience, or current enrollment in a relevant technical program. You'll work Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, in Fort Wayne, balancing individual installation tasks with collaborative problem-solving on the shop floor. The role suits someone comfortable working under deadline pressure, capable of lifting 50 pounds regularly, and willing to move between indoor shop work and outdoor conditions. ASE certification is a plus but not required.

Compensation includes competitive hourly pay plus overtime, with benefits starting day one: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and access to an on-site gym with a dedicated trainer. The company also offers tool discounts, performance incentives, and a structured approach to workplace organization and continuous improvement.
