Description
Developer Advocate
We’re looking for an experienced Developer Advocate in our Vancouver Office. Our work informs teams at every level of the company and drives key roadmap decisions. Asana’s developer platform is growing, and we need a credible external voice in the developer and AI community. This role is about presence, trust, and distribution. You will represent Asana in the spaces where developers and builders actually live: on social media, at conferences, in forums, and through the content you create, and you will represent those developers at Asana.
We’re looking for the kind of person other developers follow because they consistently reinforce a trusted feedback loop between developers and the companies they’re building with. We need someone who can speak with real authority on agents and agentic workflows — and can articulate, better than anyone outside the company, how Asana creates value in an agentic world. If people in your corner of the developer community already look to you for approaches to AI, agentic workflows, and/or productivity tooling, we want to talk.
This role is based in our Vancouver office with an office-centric hybrid schedule. The standard in-office days are Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Most Asanas have the option to work from home on Wednesdays. Working from home on Fridays depends on the type of work you do and the teams with which you partner. If you're interviewing for this role, your recruiter will share more about the in-office requirements.
What you’ll achieve
- Design and execute developer engagement strategies that drive adoption of Asana’s platform, APIs, and SDKs.
- Author high-quality technical content, including sample apps, code tutorials, technical blog posts, and API documentation.
- Engage with the developer community across forums, events, workshops, and social channels, serving as the primary advocate for developer needs.
- Partner closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Design to provide actionable developer feedback and help shape platform roadmaps.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships with Marketing, Business Development, and Solutions Engineering to support partner integrations and growth.
- Mentor and guide junior advocates and community members, elevating advocacy best practices across the organization.
About you
- Demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and emerging technologies, with a willingness to learn and leverage them to enhance productivity, collaboration, or decision-making.
- Proven track record as a Developer Advocate, Developer Relations Engineer, or Senior Software Engineer with substantial experience building developer community programs.
- Deep technical background with hands-on experience building and consuming RESTful APIs, webhooks, and modern SDKs in languages like JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a passion for breaking down complex technical topics into engaging, accessible content.
- Strong empathetic approach to developer experience, with a passion for understanding user pain points and championing their solutions internally.
- Strategic mindset with experience defining success metrics, analyzing API usage data, and translating community feedback into product enhancements.
At Asana, we're committed to building teams that include a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills, as this is critical to helping us achieve our mission. If you're interested in this role and don't meet every listed requirement, we still encourage you to apply.

About this role
Asana is seeking a Developer Advocate to be the public face of its developer platform and AI capabilities in the broader developer community. You'll split your time between representing Asana externally—through content creation, conference speaking, social media, and community engagement—and bringing developer feedback back into the company to shape product decisions. This is fundamentally a role about building trust and credibility; you'll need to already have standing in developer circles, particularly around AI agents and agentic workflows, so that people listen when you speak.
The work spans content authorship (tutorials, blog posts, sample apps), hands-on technical partnership with Product and Engineering teams, and cross-functional collaboration with Marketing and Solutions Engineering. You'll mentor junior advocates and help define how the company measures developer success. The position requires deep technical chops—RESTful APIs, webhooks, and fluency in languages like JavaScript, Python, or Ruby—combined with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging material that resonates with builders.
You'll be based in Asana's Vancouver office on a hybrid schedule with in-office expectations Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. The salary range is $175,000–$235,000 CAD, plus equity and benefits including mental health support, career coaching, and family building benefits. This role suits someone with prior Developer Advocate or Developer Relations experience who already has an audience in the developer community and genuine curiosity about how AI is reshaping productivity and collaboration tools.
