About this role

Woolpert's aviation civil internship puts you directly into the design and planning work that shapes airport infrastructure. Over a full-time summer (May–August), you'll collaborate with licensed professionals on real projects for the FAA, state DOTs, and airport clients—working across taxiways, runways, hangars, and broader airport planning. You'll move through actual project phases from conceptual design through construction, using tools like AutoCAD Civil 3D and Bluebeam, while also getting site visits to see the work in progress.

The role suits civil engineering students at sophomore level or higher who want hands-on experience in a structured, supportive environment. You'll handle calculations, drawings, cost estimates, and design plans alongside your team, with the independence to solve problems while having managers and experienced staff available to guide you. The Kansas City office operates hybrid, though you'll need to be onsite regularly for collaboration and site visits.

You'll need current work authorization in the US and must already be enrolled at an accredited university; Woolpert doesn't provide housing, relocation, or visa sponsorship for interns. The pay range is $23–27 per hour depending on your background and skills.
