About this role

Interstates is looking for a Data Engineer to build and maintain the data infrastructure that supports dashboards, analytics, and data products across the company. You'd own the full lifecycle of data work—designing ETL/ELT pipelines, integrating and transforming data from multiple sources, writing complex SQL, and ensuring data quality and reliability. A significant part of the role involves working with operational technology, manufacturing, and industrial equipment data, so familiarity with that domain or willingness to learn it is valuable.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or software development, with strong SQL fundamentals and a solid grasp of data modeling, integration, and governance. Python scripting, exposure to time-series or sensor data, and experience with modern data orchestration tools are preferred. You'd collaborate closely with analysts, developers, and operational teams to translate business needs into technical solutions, and you'd help prepare datasets for advanced analytics and AI/ML work.

This is a full-time, in-office role based in Sioux Center, Iowa or Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with occasional travel (up to 10%). Interstates offers competitive pay, bonuses, 401(k), health and dental coverage, PTO, and career development opportunities. You must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
