About this role
WellPower's CFO role demands a seasoned financial leader ready to steer a behavioral health nonprofit through complex operations and growth. You'll own all financial functions—budgeting, accounting, compliance, investments, and capital management—while partnering directly with the CEO and Board to align fiscal strategy with the organization's mission. The position requires navigating a unionized workforce, managing large-scale capital projects, and staying current on healthcare reimbursement and regulatory landscapes that shape nonprofit operations.
This contract role suits someone with at least ten years of senior healthcare or nonprofit financial leadership and a CPA credential. Prior experience in behavioral health and managed care is strongly preferred, as is familiarity with capital markets and organizational scaling through organic growth or M&A. You'll supervise the Controller and accounting teams, present monthly financials to the Board Finance Committee, and advise leadership on financial risks and opportunities. The salary range is $255,000 to $408,000, with most placements near the midpoint based on experience.
Based in the Greater Denver Metro area, you'll work hybrid—one to two days on-site per week—during standard business hours, Monday through Friday. WellPower emphasizes trauma-informed practice and person-centered care across all roles, so alignment with those values matters as much as financial acumen.
