About this role
Captivation Software seeks a senior systems engineer for its San Antonio watch desk, where you'd own monitoring and incident response across complex mission-critical infrastructure. The role centers on real-time system health oversight, alert investigation, and escalation—maintaining uptime and performance while generating metrics, SOPs, and shift handoffs for customers and internal teams. You'd also mentor watch desk personnel and lead small teams through operational challenges.
This position demands deep technical breadth: Linux command-line expertise, proficiency across containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Rancher), data pipeline tools (NiFi, Redis, Elasticsearch), cloud infrastructure (AWS), and monitoring platforms (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana). Beyond tools, you need strong troubleshooting skills across OS, applications, networks, and dataflow, plus the ability to read system graphs, interpret operational health, and communicate findings clearly in writing and verbally.
The role requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph and U.S. citizenship. Minimum qualifications are twenty years of systems engineering experience on similar programs, a relevant bachelor's degree (or five additional years of SE work in lieu), and Security+ certification or commitment to obtain it within six months. Compensation ranges from $130,000 to $270,000 based on experience, with substantial benefits including 401k contributions vesting immediately, six weeks PTO, and full medical/dental/vision coverage. This is an in-office, full-time position; direct hires only.
