About this role

Farnsworth Group is looking for a seasoned architectural leader to elevate its Healthcare Studio, a growing practice within a 650-person firm spanning 24 offices. This senior role blends design leadership with business strategy: you'd direct the design of major healthcare projects while stewarding the studio's expansion, managing a distributed team of mid- and senior-level staff across the country, and driving market strategy in concert with the broader Architecture Group. The position demands someone equally comfortable leading design work and building client relationships—presenting to prospects, advancing proposals, and representing the firm in industry forums.

Success here requires 20+ years of architectural experience, a healthcare market background, and a track record in business development. You'll need to be licensed in Illinois or Missouri (NCARB preferred) with a bachelor's degree in architecture and ideally a master's. Beyond technical expertise, the role calls for someone who can mentor talent, shape marketing strategy and budgets, and contribute to regional and firmwide planning initiatives. This is a contract position based in Chicago with in-office work required.

Farnsworth Group offers the stability of an 11-time Great Place to Work certification, a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) matching, professional development support, and a hybrid work program. The salary range is $128,000 to $174,000, calibrated to your background and experience.
