About this role

Farnsworth Group is looking for an engineering student to join their Charlotte office for an eight-month co-op spanning May through December 2027. You'd work alongside experienced engineers on energy and utility projects, gaining hands-on exposure across the full project lifecycle—from conceptual and final design through construction administration. Your responsibilities would include field data collection, preparing construction documents and cost estimates, developing material specifications, and contributing to general project support.

To be considered, you need to be pursuing a BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and able to commit full-time during both summer and winter semesters. You should be comfortable with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and have strong communication skills. Experience or familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD is a plus but not required. The role is hybrid and based in Charlotte; you'll need a valid driver's license and willingness to travel for site visits. Note that housing, relocation, and transportation assistance are not provided.

Farnsworth Group is an 11-time Great Place to Work certified firm with over 650 employees across 24 offices. As a co-op student, you'd be part of a supportive culture focused on professional development and mentoring, though specific co-op benefits should be clarified with your recruiter. Compensation is set at $22/hour.
