About this role

Farnsworth Group is offering a spring-summer co-op (January through August 2027) in their Charlotte office where you'd support civil or mechanical engineers on energy and utility infrastructure projects. The work spans the full project lifecycle—from early design concepts through final drawings and construction administration—with hands-on involvement in field data collection, cost estimating, material specifications, and document preparation. You'll work hybrid and gain exposure to real utility-scale work alongside experienced professionals at a firm that's been Great Place to Work certified for eleven consecutive years.

To be competitive, you'll need to be pursuing a BS in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program and available full-time for the entire eight-month period. Proficiency with standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and strong communication skills are essential; MicroStation or AutoCAD experience is a plus but not required. You must be willing to travel and have a valid driver's license. Note that the company does not provide housing, relocation, or transportation assistance for this position, and compensation is set at $22/hour.
