About this role
Samsung Semiconductor's Technology Enabling Development Lab is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead SSD qualification efforts for enterprise customers deploying Samsung's V-NAND technology in demanding environments like hyperscale data centers and virtualized storage infrastructures. Based in San Jose with a hybrid work arrangement, this role sits at the intersection of firmware validation and customer success, requiring you to execute qualification plans, triage test failures, coordinate across distributed teams, and drive root cause analysis on complex system-level issues.
The position demands deep expertise in enterprise storage and server ecosystems. You'll need at least five years of hands-on experience with system-level testing or development in enterprise environments, strong familiarity with storage protocols like NVMe, SAS, or Fibre Channel, and proficiency with protocol analyzers and performance benchmarking tools. Scripting capability in Python, Perl, or Shell is essential, as is comfort navigating server operating systems and their debug tools. The role also involves identifying automation opportunities and feeding insights back to development teams to strengthen functional test coverage.
This is a technical track where you'll own customer qualification outcomes while collaborating with internal engineers, test teams, and remote customer counterparts. Success requires both analytical rigor—designing experiments to verify fixes and resolve field issues—and communication skills to manage expectations and coordinate across organizational boundaries. The salary range is $138,000 to $206,000, with benefits including four weeks of paid time off, flexible work policies, and comprehensive wellness support.
