About this role
Trilon Group is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to lead active transportation and multimodal projects across Utah and the Intermountain West. You'd own the full lifecycle of work—from corridor and feasibility studies through NEPA planning—while managing technical teams across traffic, drainage, utilities, and right-of-way disciplines. The role blends hands-on planning with leadership: you'll prepare reports and analyses, coordinate stakeholder engagement, mentor junior staff, and help drive business development.
This position suits someone with 15+ years in transportation planning who has managed trails, shared-use paths, or multimodal networks and knows current guidelines for bicycle and pedestrian facilities. You'll need strong GIS and technical analysis skills, the ability to communicate complex information clearly to clients and the public, and comfort working both independently and across teams. Experience with state DOTs, MPOs, or local agencies is valued, as is familiarity with corridor planning and trail design.
Trilon Group offers a competitive salary between $120,000 and $170,000, comprehensive health and disability coverage, generous paid time off, a 401(k) match, and professional development support. The in-office role in Salt Lake City includes an unmatched comp time policy: overtime hours can be paid out or banked as additional PTO.
