About this role
Trilon Group is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to lead active transportation and multimodal projects across Utah and the Intermountain West. You'd manage the full lifecycle of corridor studies, feasibility analyses, and planning efforts—from technical work through public engagement—while coordinating with multidisciplinary teams on shared-use paths, trails, bike lanes, and complete streets initiatives. The role balances hands-on planning with project leadership, requiring you to prepare technical documentation, analyze mobility data, and communicate recommendations clearly to clients and stakeholders.
This position suits someone with 15+ years in transportation planning who has managed active transportation or trail projects and knows current guidelines for bicycle and pedestrian facilities. You'll need strong GIS and technical analysis skills, proven ability to mentor junior staff, and comfort working across multiple project phases. Experience with state DOTs, MPOs, or local agencies is valued, as is familiarity with corridor planning and public involvement coordination.
Trilon offers a competitive salary between $120,000 and $170,000, medical and dental coverage, generous PTO, a 401(k) match, professional development support, and paid professional memberships. The role is full-time and in-office in Meridian, Idaho. Notably, any hours worked beyond 40 per week can be taken as additional paid time off or paid at your regular hourly rate.
