About this role

Trilon Group is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to lead active transportation and multimodal projects across Utah and the Intermountain West. You'd manage the full lifecycle of trail, shared-use path, and complete streets initiatives—from corridor and feasibility studies through NEPA/PEL planning efforts. The role blends technical depth with strategic planning, requiring you to analyze transportation and land use data, prepare reports and technical memoranda, and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams while handling project scope, schedule, and budget.

This position suits someone with 15+ years in transportation planning who thrives on both the analytical and interpersonal sides of the work. You'll need strong GIS and transportation analysis skills, a solid grasp of current guidelines for bicycle and pedestrian facilities, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly to clients, stakeholders, and the public. Leadership responsibilities include mentoring junior staff, driving client relationships, and spearheading public engagement efforts.

The salary range is $120,000–$170,000 for full-time, in-office work in Dallas. Beyond base pay, Trilon offers medical, dental, vision, life, and disability coverage; generous PTO; a 401(k) with 50% match up to 6%; professional development; and paid memberships or licensure support. The company also features an unmatched comp time policy, allowing overtime hours to be paid at regular rate or banked as additional PTO.
