About this role
Trilon Group is looking for a Senior Transportation Planner to lead active transportation and multimodal projects across Utah and the Intermountain West. You'd manage the full lifecycle of trail, shared-use path, and complete streets initiatives—from corridor and feasibility studies through NEPA/PEL planning efforts. The role blends technical depth with strategic planning, requiring you to analyze transportation and land use data, prepare reports and technical documentation, and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams including traffic, drainage, structures, and utilities. You'll also take on project management responsibilities for scope, schedule, budget, and quality control.
This position suits someone with 15+ years of transportation planning experience who is energized by both the analytical and people-facing sides of the work. You'll need a bachelor's degree in urban planning, transportation planning, civil engineering, or a related field, along with strong GIS and transportation analysis skills. The role expects you to communicate technical concepts clearly to clients, stakeholders, and the public, mentor junior staff, and contribute to business development efforts. Trail planning experience, familiarity with state DOTs and MPOs, and a track record in corridor or active transportation network planning are particularly valued.
Horrocks offers a competitive salary between $120,000 and $170,000, comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, and disability coverage, generous PTO, and a flexible comp time policy that lets you bank overtime as additional paid time off. The company also supports professional development, covers professional organization memberships and licensure, and matches 50% of 401(k) contributions up to 6%. This is a full-time, in-office role based in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
