About this role
Bayshore Animal Clinic, an AAHA-accredited and Fear Free Certified practice in South Tampa, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant or Certified Veterinary Technician for a full-time role working four days per week with rotating Saturday coverage. This small-animal general practice has served the community for over 25 years and emphasizes both clinical excellence and genuine teamwork. The position offers a consistent weekday schedule paired with shared weekend responsibility, providing stability while remaining part of a functioning hospital environment.
You'll support the full scope of veterinary care—from patient restraint and venipuncture to assisting with surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, and recovery. Responsibilities include performing laboratory diagnostics, monitoring hospitalized patients, preparing treatment areas, administering medications, maintaining medical records, and educating clients on home care. The role requires hands-on experience in a veterinary setting, comfort with animal handling and restraint, and the ability to work efficiently during busy periods while maintaining attention to detail and patient safety.
The clinic prioritizes your professional development through continuing education support, mentorship, and opportunities to expand your technical skills and move into greater clinical or leadership roles within their growing network. Compensation ranges from $15–$20 per hour (negotiable for CVTs) and includes paid time off, holidays, medical/dental/vision coverage, retirement matching, and employee pet care discounts. This role suits someone with prior veterinary hospital experience who values Fear Free principles and wants to build a career in an established practice rather than simply fill shifts.
